straight out of a movie

i wish it were the other way around, that things in movies remind me of things that happen in my own life but apparently my life isn't as interesting. as a cheesy lds church movie.  that's sad.

it started out as a night of visits. we decided to go to meet someone we had never met. walked up to the door and heard a huge dog start barking. someone peeked through the blinds in the front window. we knocked. the door opened two inches. maybe. we asked if she was home. he said yes. but then asked who we were. we're from her ward. . . and before i could say anything more he responds with 'she doesn't have a ward' followed by the door slamming in our faces. we silently walked back to the car. once inside we look at each other and say, 'did that just happen?'

i think i would be an awful missionary to have that happen more than one time.

it did get me thinking though and i came to the conclusion that i never want to be the reason that a person reacts as he did. whether it was towards the lds church or just society in general. and i hope i'm the kind of person that will answer my door and be friendly to whoever is there.
